About us
RBS is a bank with a plan. We’re changing and rebuilding so that we’re a safer, stronger and more profitable bank. Not just for today but for many years to come. Good progress has already been made. But we have much still to do. We need new talent – people with fresh ideas and ways of thinking – to sustain the momentum.
If this excites rather than daunts you there could be an amazing future for you here. Our graduates are at the very centre of our regeneration and are contributing to projects that will shape not only our business, but the very future of banking.
Why the RBS group?
The RBS Group incorporates a diverse range of businesses and an impressive portfolio of leading brands. Our retail presence in the UK, the Americas and Ireland includes NatWest, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Citizens Bank and Ulster Bank. You may also know our telephone and internet businesses including Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege but did you know we are also the parent company of Coutts and Co the prestigious private bank and Green Flag the leading name in breakdown recovery? Finally, our investment banking arm Global Banking and Markets provides financing and risk management products to large corporates and financial institutions around the world.
The variety of options available through over 30 graduate and intern programmes can open up opportunities in financial services that you may never have considered.
Choose your perfect starting point
An internship is a great way to gain an insight into the world of financial services. It offers valuable experience and could help you secure a place on one of our graduate programmes.
For students in their first year, we have an Easter Insight programme. This one-week programme offers you the chance to gain valuable work experience. It will include technical training, networking events and time spent shadowing senior members of the team. Perform well and you’ll be offered a place on our Summer Internship programme for the following year.
For penultimate year students, we offer a range of internships from ten weeks to six months, across our different business areas. These are open to students from all academic disciplines who can demonstrate an interest in banking and finance and are normally held in the summer.
If you are an A-Level student who is keen for a taste of the investment banking world we run a series of A-Level Insight events. These take place over the summer and offer you a chance to experience the fast moving and dynamic environment that is RBS Global Banking and Markets (GBM). Students who attended this year were given an introduction to investment banking by a leading RBS business professional, took part in an interactive case study, learned about managing their money wisely, networked with our current interns and experienced a tour of our trading floor.
70% of the best interns last year went on to be offered places on our graduate programmes. So, if you want to get a head start, an internship is a great opportunity to do so.
